Well, apparently after being separated for three years Stevie Wonder has finally filed for divorce from Kai Millard Morris, his wife of 11 years. It was just recently announced that Stevie has filed divorce papers citing irreconcilable differences. Mr. Wonder, being blind, had to of course sign said papers with fingerprints instead of a signature. I have actually wondered how the visually impaired generally dealt with that problem, now I know.
The papers contain a few interesting points such as the fact that Stevie is asking for joint custody of their children who are 10 and 7. It also states that he will pay spousal support and that there will be a division of assets. That last one is actually Stevie being nice because he made his fortune a long time before he married Kai so legally he would not have to share any of it with her.
I guess the only question is why now? The couple separated back in 2009 so it’s possible that they have been working on the relationship since then or perhaps Stevie has found someone he intends to marry. Either way hopefully it is an amicable divorce, you always hope that when young children are involved.
